Road Tour 10/12/2020
Meeting called to order at 7:05 a.m. at the Town Garage. Present were Charly Ray, Don Jenicek, Bill Bodin, Mike Yonan and Butch Warren.
Equipment Review
Plow Truck – 16 years of service and showing much wear and tear. Has a $40k stainless steel box that is in good shape. Mike is going to have a new fuel tank put on because current one is leaking. New vehicles would run $180K and take a year lead time. Bayfield County is moving to Western Star vehicles, not International Harvester so sharing parts in an emergency might be a reason to consider Western. Mike will check in with Lance in Superior to get some numbers and better information.
Grader needs new tires. Plow stingers are also an issue that should be addressed this year.
Black Top projects in the next few years remain Bodin Road, Big Rock and the completion of Washington/Burlager. Mike is to look into Smith Brothers cold mix that is reportedly 1/3 less expensive.
Bobby Olson has gravel for $13.50/ton(?) for work to be done on Smith Firelane and reserve inventory.
Discussion about Forest Service and the 5 Corners/Boundary Road full that needs to be addressed.
Question arose about 2021 being a TRIP year or not and what to submit. TBD.
Rebuilding of South Niemesto Road also has to be completed in 2021. More gravel needed for Peacy Road both East and West of Washington.
Sioux River box culvert was inspected and passed.
Discussed need for a driveway ordinance in conjunction with new emergency vehicle services contract and a general discussion of which property owners should be a focus to prevent vehicle damage in the event of an emergency.
Mike expresses his desire for a wider V Plow for Grader to snow can be moved further away from wheels.
Performance reviews conducted for Mike and Butch. Will enter closed session at November meeting to discuss raises.
Motion to adjourn by Charly. Seconded by Bill. Motion carried. 8:30 a.m.
