October 2025 Road Tour Minutes

Town of Bayview Road Tour Minutes

Tuesday, October 14, 2025

Meeting called to order at 8:00 a.m. by Don Jenicek, Town Chairman.  Also present were Bill Bodin, Mike Garnich, and Mike Yonan.

Notes taken on the discussions while on tour include:

Maki Road west of the Town Hall was in good condition.  Brushing was evident well back into the tree line.

Big Rock Road—observation was made of several slough off areas that will need to be covered again, or retaining wall work to help hold the road in place better.  Several pothole repairs need to be made before the bridge.

South Niemesto Road should be mowed better past the corner to help keep the trees from encroaching the roadway.  Further down Niemesto, it was noted that the temporary structure on the Rusch property is located too close to the roadway and should be set back beyond the 75 foot rule.

Friendly Valley Road had recently been graded.  There is a need for some fencing at the gravel pit to prevent unwanted dumping on the Town’s property.  Back down Friendly Valley Road there are several holes alongside the road that need to be filled after the bridges and culverts.  Cold patch vs. obtaining a load of hot mix from Ashland project was debated, with no decision reached as best way to approach as of yet.

Bayview Beach Road had several washboard and potholes that will need to be graded smooth and filled after next rainfall.

Whiting Road also in need of grading work and to have the top ½ mowed back, at least two passes up toward the yurt parking area.

Burlager Road is in need of repairs—discussed grinding asphalt up and smoothing out the bumps in preparation for future plans to blacktop around corner onto Washington Ave. to Leino-Johnson Road.  Had discussed doing this in two phases, but need to review budget for 2026/2027 to fit this needed project into the overall Highway 13 reroute.

Washington Avenue also in need of additional gravel and grading in the same spot that is treated every year because of the softer clay base.

Leino-Johnson Road was inspected to see if a failed culvert had been replaced or repaired.  It was deemed to have been repaired, but still grading work is evidently needed in the area.

Maki Road—soft spots in the blacktop east of Washington Ave. that will need to be dug out, filled in, and have cold patch applied.

Travelled back to Town Garage.  Don motioned for meeting to be adjourned at 9:20 a.m.; seconded by Mike Garnich.  Motion carried.
