Monthly Board Meeting October 11th, 2022

October 11th, 2022
Meeting was called to order by the Chair at 6:.02 p.m.
Roll call: Supervisor Mike Garnich, present; Supervisor Bill Bodin, present; Chair Don Jenicek, present; Clerk Wanda Hyde, present and Treasurer Kelly Warren, present. Other in attendance were Susan Raasch, Bob & Nicola Cuty, Mike Yonan and Mark Scribner.
Approval of minutes of 9/13/22. Motion was made by Mike Garnich seconded by Don Jenicek with one edit. Motion carried.
Treasurer Report by Kelly Warren. Checking $63,555.94; Equipment $3,190.15; Room Tax $7,599.82; Contingency Fund $16,384.89 and Tax levy $98,003.81.
Citizens concerns and comments. Mike Scribner suggested that Whiting Road be considered for blacktop from STH 13 up until it is level to get rid of wash boarding.
HFNP update. The meeting set for September 27th took place with another date set for November 27th for scheduling.
Discussion of 2023 Blacktopping will be but off until we are through with budgeting for 2023.
New Holland Disc mower put off until January agenda.
Discussion and possible action regarding internet cameras. Mike Garnich stated we should wait until after HFNP is settled in court.
Road Report by Mike Yonan. Little Sioux washed out and C & W Trucking was hired to fix for the town.
Jim “Marly” Ledin stated today as a temporary replacement for Butch Warren who has had heart surgery. Water heater in the garage busted and water came through the office roof in the garage.
Discussion and possible action regarding request to plow Superieor Vieux Sub-division. The town has a policy to not plow private driveways, except for widening with grader, as necessary.
Old business, town hall. Bob Hanson will work over the boiler before Winter. Handi-capped ramp will be done by Chris Zimmerman in the Spring. Wanda Hyde mentioned that the safe in the basement, someone had ground off the two of the knobs but did not get into the safe.
It was decided to move the 2023 budget until the end of the agenda.
Payment of bills in the amount of $87,223.78. Motion was made by Bill Bodin seconded by Mike Garnich to approve as presented and for Wanda to check why the check numbering is off. Motion carried.
Correspondence –
Correspondence from Bayfield County Administrator requesting support to prioritize broadband access. The board said to send Administrator a note of support.
Correspondence from Ben Dufford of Bayfield County Land & Water requesting the town contribute to placement of Adopt-A-Dumpster Program by donating $150. Board decided to not support this effort.
It was not necessary to go into closed session to review performance evaluation of road crew as there was no one that needed to leave.
Employee evaluation took place.
Motion was made by Don Jenicek seconded by Mike Garnich to increase wages by 4% and add an additional $10,000 for extra summer help. Motion carried.
Budget Review was started, then tabled until October 27th at 6 P.M.
November 15th will be the next regular town meeting at 6 P.M.
Motion to adjourn was made by Bill Bodin seconded by Mike Garnich.
