Monthly Board Meeting
June 14th, 2011
Meeting was called to order by Chairman, Al House at 6:00 p.m.
Roll Call: Supervisor Larry Nelson; Supervisor Charly Ray; Chairman Al House; Clerk Wanda Hyde and Treasurer Carol DeMars. Others present: Isaac Gilliland; Kristen Gilliland; Phyllis Bayliss, Ashland; Mike Yonan; Sue Jenicek; Don Jenicek; Chuck Campbell; Robert Sharp; Rita Sharp; Don Bayliss, Ashland and Deb Gierczic.
Approval of Minutes of May 10th, 2011 – Motion was made by Charly Ray seconded by Larry Nelson. Motion carried.
Approval of Minutes of Board of Review May 11th, 2011 – One correction noted by Al House, change word recue to recuse. Motion to approve minutes with correction noted was made by Charly Ray seconded by Al House. Motion carried.
Treasurer Report – Carol DeMars reported Checking $38,497.67; Regular Savings $66,299.71; Tax Account $24,220.39; HFNP $337.26; Equipment Fund $1,320.16 and Room Tax $7,006.53.
Payment of Bills – Motion to approve payment of bills in the amount of 448,394.39 was made by Charly Ray seconded by Larry Nelson. Motion carried.
Citizens Concerns –
There were concerns regarding the unlicensed dogs in Town of Bayview. The County Ordinance covers the Town of Bayview. Al House would contact the county regarding this problem.
Road Report –
Mike Yonan, Road Superintendant reported that wedging on Friendly Valley Road and Big Rock has been completed. Calcium chloride has been finished except for three places. Next week grass cutting will be started. Loan should now be applied for to pay Northwoods.
Discussion of only putting 1 of the 2 culverts in on Big Rock Road. Motion by Charly Ray to install 1 culvert at top Big Rock, South side of South Niemesto Road, seconded by Larry Nelson. Motion carried.
Old Business-
Discussion regarding Northwoods Coop. Weed Management Association working with Town of Bayview with weed management plan. This program would require the Town matching 40 hours of volunteer work. Charly Ray would take the lead on getting this plan started. Motion was made by Larry Nelson seconded by Charly Ray to go ahead with the weed assessment. Motion carried.
Chuck Campbell – was introduced to talk about the Little Sioux restoration project, which would take in the top 1000 feet per attached letter. He was looking for a verbal support by the Town of Bayview. Motion to support this project was made by Charly Ray seconded by Larry Nelson. Motion carried.
Little Sioux Road was brought up for discussion by Don Bayliss of Ashland. Mr Bayliss would like to see some better ditching and erosion control measures in place.
Bayview Park – Pavillion and Privy is complete. There will be two cookers put near pavilion at $139.00 each. Fire rings from Chicago Iron at $60.00 each and placed on the beach at Bayview Park were discussed. Inland Sea would match cost with proceeds from Kayake Simposium.
There will be one dog poo station installed at Houghton Falls Nature Presserve. Donation pipe for Bayview Park will be installed next week.
