Monthly Board Meeting February 14th, 2017

Meeting was called to order by Charly Ray, Chairman at 6:00 p.m.

Roll call:  Superintendent Larry Nelson, present; Superintendent Don Jenicek, present; Chairman Charly Ray, present; Clerk Wanda Hyde, present and Treasurer Kelly Warren, present.  Others present:  David Hyde, Mike Garnich, Butch Warren and Mike Yonan.

Minutes of January 10th, 2017.  Motion to approve minutes as presented by Larry Nelson seconded by Don Jenicek.  Motion carried.

Treasurer report was given by Kelly Warren.  Checking $65,076.31; Equipment $1,828.30; Room Tax $2,437.71 and Tax levy $113,504.77.

Citizens’ Concerns and Comments: – No Comments

Road Report by Mike Yonan.  There was a question about which roads posted for spring thaw.  Mike noted that all roads were posted and if someone needed an exemption they should contact him.

Charly Ray talked about U.S Forest Service having gravel available to towns, and that, he would look into getting some gravel for our Forest Roads.

Wanda Hyde was asked to look into appling for gravel from Bayfield County Forest Roads within the township.

5 year Road plan was presented by Charly Ray.

Discussion of adding a flood culvert to the Little Sioux.  This would have to have approval from DNR and Core of Engineers.  Mike Yonan would look into with Shawn Hasslleu.

Need to replace culvert on intersection of Houghton Falls Road and STH 13 discussed.

50/50 Bridge replacement on Maki Road was discussed.

Don Jenicek talked with Mike Friis regarding HF Nature Preserve Grant project and deadline is June 30, 2019.

Larry Nelson stated he would contact Ed Slaminski regarding another grant or BRC in the amount of $17,000.

Pine Ridge Land Survey has billed the town for an additional $1,000.00 for plat and recording.  This surveying was completed at HF Nature Preserve.  Clerk was instructed to hold payment until town talked with surveyor.

Correspondence from Cory Bouchard was reviewed pertaining to the gate at HF Nature Preserve not working and other issues.  The gate has been fixed.

Clerk was instructed to look into whether all those people that are doing short term rental are paying their Room Tax.

There was a suggestion to put a memorial plaque or bench to Jay’s Tree Service at the HF Nature Preserve.

Newsletter edits were discussed and approved.

Email from Paul Norris was discussed, no action taken.

Next Meeting is scheduled for March 14th, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.
