Town of Bayview
February 11, 2025
Meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Chair.
Roll Call: Chair Don Jenicek, present; Supervisor Bill Bodin, present; Supervisor Mike Garnich, present via phone; Clerk Kim Suske, present; Treasurer Kelly Warren, present.
Others in attendance: Linda Kreibel
Approval of Town Board Meeting Minutes from 01/14/2025: Motion made by Mike Garnich to approve as written; seconded by Bill Bodin. Motion carried.
Approval of Closed Session Town Board Meeting Minutes from 01/14/2025: Motion made by Bill Bodin to approve as written; seconded by Mike Garnich. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report by Kelly Warren: Checking $ 80,386.17; Equipment $ 6,401.34; Room Tax $ 8828.60; Contingency Fund $ 24,496.14; and Tax Levy Savings $ 873,336.79.
Citizen’s Concerns and Comments: Linda Kreibel says she loves how the roads are being plowed.
Allow parking on Houghton Falls Road on March 20, 2025 for a wedding—Discussion and possible action: After discussion, Don Jenicek made a motion to allow the Petersen family to park on one side of Houghton Falls Road on March 20 from noon – 5 p.m. for a family wedding; seconded by Mike Garnich with a reminder to the family to make sure the school bus can turn around. They’ll also need to put bags over the no-parking signs. Motion carried.
Review of 2024 Financial Report for April Annual Meeting: Tabled.
Town Hall cleaning: Don Jenicek will call a couple of people.
Houghton Falls Nature Preserve: No updates from the courts.
Roads Report: Roads are fine. Broke a road counter on pick up and it had to be replaced. Need to start getting ready for spring mowing.
Town newsletter discussion/select date for Town picnic: Started work on newsletter. Town picnic date set for August 23, 2025 from 11 – 3 at Bayview Park.
Board Comments: None.
The meeting will go into closed session pursuant to WI State Statute 19.85 (1) (g) for discussion regarding potential litigation against the Town by Ed and Mary Gruhl. Motion was made by Bill Bodin at 6:40 to go into closed session; seconded by Don Jenicek; Motion carried.
Regular Board meeting resumed at 6:50 p.m.
Payment of Bills: Motion made by Don Jenicek to approve payment of Town bills from January 15, 2025 to February 11, 2025 in the amount of $72,820.49; seconded by Bill Bodin. Mike Garnich abstained. Motion carried.
Correspondence: Received an approved short-term rental application packet from Bayfield County for Trailblazer Heaven LLC, 25997 Freedom Valley Drive, Washburn; owner Larry Willsher. Received notification from Bayfield County on Amendatory Ordinances 2024-14 and 2025-01.
Next Town of Bayview Regular Board meeting is set for March 11, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
Moton to adjourn was made by Bill Bodin; seconded by Don Jenicek. Meeting adjourned at 7:12 p.m.
