Monthly Board Meeting April 21st, 2020

April 21st, 2020
Meeting was called to order at 6:03 p.m. by Chairman Charly Ray.
Roll call: Supervisor Bill Bodin, present; Supervisor Don Jenicek, present; Chairman Charly Ray, present; Clerk Wanda Hyde, present and Treasurer Kelly Warren, present. Others present Dennis Bachand, Jackie Bachand, John Carlson, David warren, Mike Yonan, Paul Norris and Bob Olson.
Minutes of March 10th, 2020. Motion was made by Don Jenicek seconded by Bill Bodin to approve as presented. Motion carried.
Treasurer Report was given by Kelly Warren. Checking $60,022.02; Equipment Fund $3,398.92; Room tax $11,264.64; Contingency fund $10,000.04 and Tax Levy $89,370.82.
Citizens’ concerns and comments –
Paul Norris thanked Wanda Hyde for getting absentee ballots to them as they traveled. Paul also stated that Whiting Road is doing very well since the road rebuild last year.
Bid Opening for road rebuild Maki Road. Northwoods Paving bid $217,884.41. Don Jenicek would contact Luppino’s and Mike Yonan would contact Northwoods Paving. After some discussion it was decided to take no action at this time.
Town park and preserve management goals for 2020. Charly Ray stated there has been a lot of correspondence regarding closing HFNP because Covid 19. Charly Ray had checked with County and State parks and referred to the Governor’s order to encourage people to get out as long as they maintain their distance between each other. Don Jenicek noted that he thought Charly was right on track with handling this correspondence. Bill Bodin stated that we have the ability to call an emergency meeting if required to close HFNP.
Review part time position – tabled until next month.
HFNP gate was discussed. The town has a quote to repair gate and make it operational. Motion was made by Bill Bodin seconded by Don Jenicek to approve acquisition and installation of gate with funds to come from room tax. Motion carried.
Roads Report by Mike Yonan–
The crew has been cutting brush, working on 5-acre road, dragging and grading. Mike Yonan stated he was going to install no parking signs on both sides of Houghton Falls Road. Also, the need for the fences on the railroad grades be extended. The board agreed to these changes.
Motion was made by Charly Ray seconded by Don Jenicek to temporary adjourn for the Annual Meeting. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Charly Ray seconded by Don Jenicek to re-convene. Motion carried.
Payment of bills in the amount of $37,047.15. Motion was made by Don Jenicek seconded by Bill Bodin to approve as presented. Motion carried.
Correspondence –
Wanda Hyde state she had received correspondence from BC Forestry stating we would receive $5,150.00 for work on Smith Fire Lane.
Scheduled Open Book for June 1st if agreeable with the Assessor.
Board of Review is set for June 8th 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Road tour is postponed until fall.
Next meeting is set for May 19th at 6:00 p.m.
