New Business—The new wheelchair ramp was built last summer.  It is working well but still needs to be stained and we could use a blacktop landing pad at the base to make it more accessible.  The painting and plastering work in the basement still needs to be done.  Expect to paint the exterior of the hall this summer.

Concerns expressed by some citizens about people speeding and tearing up pavement and gravel.  There is very little staffing by Bayfield County Sheriff’s Department for enforcement.

Concerns expressed about people traveling at high speeds on Washington Avenue and how this could worsen during City of Washburn reroute in a few years.  Discussed putting up “Slow—Children” signs.

Questions were asked about parking and litigation/cost of legal fees at Houghton Falls Nature Preserve.  Don Jenicek gave detailed information about: easements/entrance/management plan and explained that the railroad grade is private property.  Town was required by judge to take down gates and signs—goes against the management plan and conservation easement, thus necessitating continued litigation.

Some citizens thanked the Board and Roads Crew for their service.

Five-year Road Plan was reviewed. This is a maintenance year with no big projects planned.
